Practicing Urban Warfare — Lebanon
Soldiers of the Lebanese Armed Forces‘ 1st Intervention Regiment demonstrate the proper way to enter a building in urban combat operations during a recent practice engagement with U.S. Marines. The Marines, assigned to the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) at U.S. Central Command, worked with approximately 30 LAF officers and non-coms to increase their knowledge of urban combat and marksmanship techniques.
While the operation enhanced the LAF unit’s ability to train its own people and carry out similar programs, it gave the Marines valuable experience in working alongside the Lebanese.
The FAST Marines shared expertise in an array of combat skills, honed during deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. After providing their expertise in urban terrain operations and combat marksmanship, the Marines observed the LAF soldiers in live-fire and practical application drills.
