FRIDAY FOTO (October 7, 2011)
We’ve been running a lot of Army stuff this past week, so we thought we’d feature one of the sea services for today’s FRIFO.
U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Jody Powell ensures a ladder well is clear during a visit, board, search and seizure training exercise aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Arleigh Burke. The Arleigh Burke is in the North Atlantic participating in Exercise Joint Warrior 2011 off the coast of Scotland. Joint Warrior is a United Kingdom-led, multi-warfare exercise designed to improve interoperability between allied navies and prepare participating crews to conduct combined operations during deployment.
However, not everyone is happy about the scope of the exercise. This Scottish Web posting lists all the UK aircraft and ships participating but worries over the environmental impact.
